6 – Engine & Firewall Forward – Leonard's RV-7A Build

First Engine Start

Bled fuel sensor, loose fittings caused leaks. Traded tank sensor connection to make L-R correct. First start of engine, all indications nominal.

Time: 6 hours.

Bled oil sensor, got oil pressure.

Time: 4 hours.

Finished wing root fairings, tested radio with call to Felts Tower (loud and clear), cranked engine (177 rpm).

Time: 4 hours.

Hired a wrecker truck to move the airplane to my hangar at Felts Field.

Time: 4 hours.

Installed reflective covering on interior of lower cowling. Installed air vent flexible ducts.

Time: 4 hours.

Installed bracket for ELT with rivnuts. Installed GSU25 on bracket.

Time: 4 hours.

Installed OAT Sensor. Installed ELT Remote Switch.

Time: 3 hours.

Installed angles on sub-panel to support GNX375 rack. Riveted support angles to Instrument Panel for racks.

Time: 5 hours.

Cut sub-panel to permit racks from GNX375 and GTR200 to pass through.

Fabricated reduction faceplate for GMC507.

Time: 4 hours.
